Yvonne Krystman
Bio:
Yvonne left her native country of Poland, at the verge of the communist collapse, after a short career as elementary school art teacher. She settled for nearly 3 years in beautiful south Italy where the ocean meets the land. That’s where her daughter and her love for warm oceans were born. Next she immigrated to Canada, where she earned a degree in Commercial Art. She worked occasionally as a graphic designer and art teacher but never felt quite comfortable in a structured work environment. Yvonne always had a thirst for travel, and traveled extensively around the Americas, Europe and northern Africa. Her art is a reflection of her very eclectic taste, her colorful life and desire to connect and fit in. Her artwork has been displayed around USA, Canada and Poland. She currently resides and creates in beautiful Cape Coral, Florida.

Her artwork is available locally at Arts for Acts Gallery and Daas Co-op Gallery, in Ft. Myers. FL and Coconut Point Coop Gallery in Estero, FL and the Franklin Shops in the Fort Myers River District.

Artist statement:
My art is born somewhere in the shadows but is not staying there.

Each piece I create is simultaneously a bridge from the past, where I’ve come from as well as a preview of the future, where I’m going.

I have embraced being led by my emotions of empathy and allowed my internal contradictions to guide me.  I have employed several different techniques to create my 2-D and high-relief pieces. I am on a constant journey to portray contradictions, therefore often including opposing colors, textures and various objects. What is constant is my use of variety of hardware and fence materials for its plethora of interpretation options. I was told that I have feminized chicken wire and screws and I am proud of it.
